Do you want to spend 12 months right in the heart of the Balkans and help the people who need it most? Join the team ADRA Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo and support vulnerable groups - from young people to the elderly - through education, community work and humanitarian activities.
Bosnia and Herzegovina faces long-term socio-economic challenges - young people struggle with high unemployment and lack of opportunities, the elderly suffer from isolation and poverty. ADRA BiH through its community centre AdraHub focuses on these two groups and provides them with concrete support - language courses, workshops on healthy lifestyles, psychosocial support and food distribution.
The volunteer will be part of a team that builds social inclusion, solidarity and community resilience.
Description of activity
The volunteer will mainly participate in the activities of the AdraHub Community Centre:
- conducting and assisting with language courses and educational workshops for young people
- organisation of events to promote healthy lifestyles and interactive lectures in the framework of the „Health Club“
- working together to coordinate the food bank and communicating with beneficiaries
- assisting in creative and development activities for young people
- planning and implementing communication with the community, partners and institutions
- collecting feedback from programme participants
- presenting the activities of the centre and writing short reports on the progress of events
- providing a safe environment for children and vulnerable people

- The costs of volunteering, including flights, insurance, vaccinations, are fully covered by ADRA and donors. Volunteers receive a monthly pocket allowance (lump sum) of €900 net to cover additional costs at the place of employment. These costs include e.g. meals, local travel costs, communication, etc.
Requirements
- experience or a strong interest in working with youth, older people and children
- experience in leading or assisting with workshops (language, health, nutrition)
- basic knowledge of cooking, nutrition and sustainable eating
- a willingness to promote the reduction of food waste and the use of organic practices
- knowledge of English or German - an advantage
- good communication skills and sensitivity to different cultural and social contexts
- Motivation to be actively involved in improving the lives of vulnerable groups.
