The settlement of Tserovani is located just a few kilometres from the Georgian capital, Tbilisi. It consists of 8008 internally displaced people (IDPs) who have been living here in 2002 houses for ten years since the Russian-Georgian conflict.<\/p>\n

One of these houses houses the NGO For a better future<\/a>, which seeks exactly what it says in its name - a better future for the inhabitants of this settlement, with a focus on women, young people and the long-term unemployed.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Another such house is temporarily occupied by our development volunteer, Martin Pavelka, who is sent here thanks to the support of SlovakAid<\/a>and works directly with IDPs. She teaches English, tutors local sort waste<\/a>, helping them to prepare for job interviews, using her skills and experience in HR, PR, education, communications.<\/p>\n

It is also home to a sheltered workshop and a social enterprise Ikorta<\/a>, which produces enamel jewellery - an increasingly sought-after souvenir thanks to the efforts of our volunteer. Support social entrepreneurship<\/a> may be doing well in Georgia, but it needs to move forward in its production and marketing strategy.<\/p>\n
