1.11.2018<\/strong><\/p>\n In addition to sending 18 EU Aid volunteers from EU countries to low-income countries around the world, the \u201eHumanitarian Volunteers in Action\u201c project also aims to exchange experiences, skills and competences between the participating EU partner organisations acting as sending organisations and third country organisations acting as host organisations. This sub-page will provide an overview of the related activities over time in pursuit of the project's Objective 2, namely \u201eStrengthen the capacity of organisations and their communities in project management and volunteerism, advocacy, impact assessment and needs assessment<\/em>\u201c.<\/p>\n Over the course of two years, the host organisations will build on the training they received in the certification process (see HVM project) and learn new skills, tools and methods to help them implement resilient and sustainable humanitarian projects. In addition to the specifically targeted trainings, continuous communication and meetings between partner organisations will lead to a mutual exchange of skills and practice in humanitarian and development project management. Examples are the planned preparatory and monitoring trips of the sending organisations to the host organisations. Sending organisations also have the opportunity to receive training and to pass on the experience gained to the project consortium partners.<\/p>\n 13.6.2019<\/strong><\/p>\n Equally important as the training and deployment of humanitarian volunteers is capacity building in both sending and receiving organisations. That is why our two Outreach Managers, Anna-Maria and Noemi, are in Tallinn for a week-long seminar. Capacity building in the form of trainings is conducted on the topics of Campaign Management, Networking and Partnership Building, Conflict Management and Providing Psycho-social Support. All the knowledge and skills will be used in the implementation of the EU Aid Volunteers initiative.<\/p>\n 18 humanitarian and development organisations from all over the world met at the headquarters of the Estonian NGO, our partner MTU Mondo. They are partners of two project consortia in the EUAV programme, namely \u201eHumanitarian Volunteers in Action\u201c (HVA) and \u201eSustainable Development through Humanitarian Volunteers 1 (SudHAV).<\/p>\n 28.10.2019<\/strong><\/p>\n Last week, our colleague Anna-Maria, together with colleagues from ADICE and Mondo as sending organisations, visited our partner association MERKURI in Zugdidi, Georgia, where three EU Aid volunteers - Daniele, Antonio and Patricia - are based. The purpose of this trip was mainly to monitor the ongoing deployments of these volunteers. However, it also included a training entitled \u201eHow to develop projects\u201c to strengthen the capacities of the Merkuri Association and the leaders of the local organisations operating in the region. The training was attended by 5 leaders of local organisations working on the issue of women's equal status in society. Participants gained skills on how to integrate volunteers into the work of the organization, how to build relationships and partnerships, how multi-level collaboration works, what management and leadership approach can promote community engagement that will bring incentives to fully utilize the potential of volunteers and community members, and much more.<\/p>\n 4.12.2020<\/strong><\/p>\n It is a difficult but not impossible task. Developing a needs assessment is a great start. Meeting the needs of each party - the volunteer, the host organization, and most importantly, the community - is key. The second step is to closely monitor each phase of the project and thoroughly evaluate its impact so that we can continuously improve our work and achieve our goals.<\/p>\n To better understand the rationale and importance of these steps, a 3-day capacity building training for our partners was held. Expertise was provided by three Slovak trainers from the PDCS organization. They showed us different theoretical approaches and practical tools that we could try out during the interactive training.<\/p>\n You can see how it is possible to maintain the interactivity of such a training when instead of a big meeting in a conference room in snowy Bratislava, 15 organisations from 21 countries meet in the online space of Zoom in the images below. Thank you to our 32 colleagues, trainers as well as interpreters and facilitators from the sending organisations (ADRA CZ, Adice - Centre d'information Europe Direct Roubaix, MT\u00dc Mondo) for their participation and cooperation. Fingers crossed that the host organisations will be able to successfully put the knowledge into practice.<\/p>\n The training was part of three projects: the HVA - Humanitarian Volunteers in Action.\u201eHumanitarian Volunteers in Action<\/em>\u201c)<\/em>, SudHAV3 - Sustainable Development through Humanitarian Volunteers 3 (\u201eSustainable Development through Humanitarian Aid Volunteers 3\u201d)<\/em>, TEHV - Towards effective humanitarian volunteering (\u201eTowards Effective Humanitarian Volunteering\u201c)<\/em> supported by the EU Aid Volunteers programme.<\/p>\n 20.1.2021<\/strong><\/p>\n This was the subject of yesterday's online training for more than 30 participants from Albania and Turkey, who are actively involved in building their own community centres. How to understand the needs of community members, what determines a well-functioning community, how to plan project-based activities were part of the presentation and practical exercises.<\/p>\n Originally, the training was supposed to be part of a monitoring visit to our partners ADRA Albania and NCCS operating in Tirana, the capital of Albania, and SPI in Turkey.
