Start a career in humanitarian and development aid in Serbia as a junior development volunteer in the field of social work<\/h2>\n

ADRA Slovakia continues its successful tradition of sending development and humanitarian volunteers to third countries. This year, again through the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation (SAMRS) programme, two Slovak men or women will have the opportunity to gain this unique experience in our two partner organisations in Serbia - ADRA and \u010covekoljublje.<\/p>\n

\u010covekoljublje has been operating in Serbia since 1991 and has extensive experience in humanitarian aid. In its early days it helped people affected by war, now in the former Yugoslavia. In recent years she has been working with victims of violence, the elderly, ex-prisoners, asylum seekers and other vulnerable groups. \u010covekoljublje's programmes as well as humanitarian intervention activities have long created a space for the active involvement of volunteers.<\/p>\n

In addition to Belgrade, the organisation operates in Serbia's fourth largest city, Kragujevac, from where it manages development programmes in adjacent regions. Your help will be crucial in the further development and sustainability of these programmes.<\/p>\n

Working with beneficiaries in the field<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

One of them focuses on improving the quality of life of seniors and advocating for better enjoyment of their rights. The second programme is concerned with helping the homeless, especially the elderly. The organization has recently opened a newly built shelter for homeless people, which you will be involved in running, mainly by designing, planning, but also implementing daily work activities for the clients. \u201eShelter for homeless people has its first user<\/em><\/h2>\n

The humanitarian organization of the Serbian Orthodox Church \u201e\u010covekoljublje\u201c, with the blessing of the Bishop of Sumava, Mr. Jovan, has adapted the space on Knez Mihajl Street and started to operate the Shelter for the Homeless.<\/em><\/p>\n

In fact, there is a house on this site that was donated by the former owner to the Serbian Orthodox Church.<\/em><\/p>\n

On the occasion of World Health Day, Gordana Damnjanovi\u0107, a member of the Crisis Staff, visited the facility and pointed out that the City of Kragujevac has provided strong support to the private service provider, which is currently in the licensing phase.<\/em><\/p>\n

Kragujevac resident Slobodanka Doki\u0107 recently lost her home in a fire. Through the Centre for Social Work and Emergency Management, the elderly woman was placed in the Homeless Shelter. At that time, her health condition was deteriorating, which is now much better thanks to the staff of the Health Centre.<\/em><\/p>\n

The shelter has ten beds for homeless people in an area of 120 square meters in several separate rooms. There are also fully equipped toilets and one of the rooms is designed for people with disabilities. The shelter employs a special educator, three caregivers, nurses of the pre-school institute \u201eNada Naumovi\u0107\u201c, who take care of the users during the state of emergency.<\/em><\/p>\n
