Participants in the EU Aid Volunteers initiative must be:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>over 18 years of age&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>citizen of an EU Member State or a long-term resident in the EU<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>HOSTING ORGANISATION&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ugandapioneers.org\/\">Uganda Pioneers Association<\/a> (UPA)<\/strong> is a youth-based voluntary service organization. UPA endeavors to bridge the gap between peoples of different cultural backgrounds and do not represent any political or religious interests.<\/p>\n<p>Since its inception in 1989, UPA has continued to mobilize young Ugandans and international volunteers to contribute to community development through mainly offering voluntary work by organizing work camps, youth exchanges, and medium and long-term volunteer placements as a tool to fulfill its goals. UPA aims to encourage the youth to take on leading roles towards development, promote and improve natural and acquired skills for community development and create community awareness on thematic issues through voluntarism.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-22281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adra.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/MCAFS_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"586\" height=\"322\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.adra.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/MCAFS_n.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.adra.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/MCAFS_n-300x165.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.adra.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/MCAFS_n-768x422.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.adra.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/MCAFS_n-16x9.jpg 16w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 586px) 100vw, 586px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The volunteer placement is with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/mcafsuganda\/?ref=page_internal\">Masanafu Child and Family Support organization<\/a> (MCAFS). Uganda Pioneers Association collaborates with MCAFS to address the ever-increasing socio-economic challenges with the main focus on Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC). MCAFS is a Community Based Organisation (CBO) that was established to support OVCs through vocational skills training at St. Padre Pio Vocational Training Institute. It supports the retention of OVCs in schools through an educational support program by paying school fees and providing scholastic materials to these children in secondary and primary schools. MCAFS carries out socio-economic strengthening of OVC caregivers, sensitization on child protection, healthcare, and psychosocial support to OVC, and creating awareness on HIV\/AIDS prevention and management through community outreaches in the local communities.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>EXPECTED TASKS&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve the capacity and ability of partner schools to offer quality education to<br>vulnerable school children.<\/li>\n<li>Support in identifying possible ways and means of improving the quality of education<br>offered by ordinary community schools.<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate respective project teams in the implementation of school activities:<\/li>\n<li>Conducting follow visits in schools for the sponsored vulnerable children<\/li>\n<li>Conducting literacy and computer training amongst teachers and\/or learners.<\/li>\n<li>Support in the development and effective usage of the community library and the youth resource center<\/li>\n<li>Train teachers in pedagogical teaching-learning skills<\/li>\n<li>Support in developing Extra\/Co-Curricular activities for partner schools<\/li>\n<li>Improve partnerships and coloration through school twinning programs<\/li>\n<li>Develop basic computer skills for teachers of community partner schools<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>REQUIREMENTS<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>University degree in a relevant field (i.e. teacher, social work, community work)<\/li>\n<li>Work experience in teaching or development of teaching materials<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of management and operation of community libraries<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with vulnerable communities<\/li>\n<li>Experience working with government education agencies<\/li>\n<li>English proficiency - written and oral<\/li>\n<li>Computer skills: MS Office<\/li>\n<li>Interest in work on digital media - website, social platforms, or graphics (welcomed)<\/li>\n<li>Flexibility and ability to adapt to local conditions<\/li>\n<li>Independent and proactive work ethic<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The volunteer will be provided with a working station, laptop, and other necessary equipment, including an internet connection. The volunteer will be accommodated in a <strong>shared apartment<\/strong> along with other volunteers located in <strong>Nansana, Kampala suburb<\/strong>. Each volunteer will be given a private room, while the kitchen, toilet, bathroom, and living room are shared. The apartment is protected with a wall fence for security purposes. The house has running water and electricity, but the volunteer should be prepared for power blackouts and shortages of running water, usually during the dry seasons. Alternatively, a volunteer can be rented an independent apartment as the program budget allows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM COMPETENCIES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>University degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Library and Information Science, Development studies, community development work)<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of School and educational practices and tools<\/li>\n<li>English proficiency<\/li>\n<li>Computer skills: MS Office<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The program covers the following costs:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pre-departure training organized by the European Commission in one of the EU countries: transport, food, accommodation, and training materials<\/li>\n<li>Online pre-departure training with the sending organization (ADRA Slovakia) and additional training materials<\/li>\n<li>Return ticket to Uganda<\/li>\n<li>Health insurance during the deployment&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Accommodation<\/li>\n<li>Monthly allowance 317 EUR (food, local SIM card, personal items) + local transport 40 EUR&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Post-deployment resettlement allowance of 100 EUR\/ each month of deployment&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li>Possibility to financially support local language support up to 100 EUR\/ each month of deployment&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>SELECTION PROCESS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The candidate is expected to send the following documents to <strong><a href=\"mailto:volunteering@adra.sk\">volunteering@adra.sk <\/a><\/strong>no later than <strong>April 22nd, 2022<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adra.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/application_form_sudhav3_12_0.xlsx\">Application form<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adra.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/euav_saq_albania_6_0.xlsx\">Self-assessment questionnaire<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adra.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/cvtemplate_0_0.doc\">CV in Europass format<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2.
