On our ADRA farm in Uganda, we help other families earn a living from their own gardens.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

We launched another cycle of practical training for the residents of the Kyaka II refugee settlement, which is home to more than 130,000 refugees from Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan and neighbouring countries. Fifty trainers were once again given seeds, seedlings, work tools and the necessary education coupled with practice. Each of them is helping another ten neighbours to make the best use of their allotted piece of land, so that they can grow their own vegetables and fruits and provide a livelihood for themselves and their families. \u201eGood Idea Slovakia!\u201c repeat our coaches, who also put the Slovak flag on their shirts and wear it with pride. Even the rubber boots here are Slovak!<\/div>\n

The greatest pleasure for us is when we walk around the refugee camp and see the beautifully landscaped vegetable gardens. The local farmers are really not ashamed of the cabbages, eggplants, tomatoes, onions, carrots and other crops they have grown.<\/div>\n

As refugees receive financial assistance of only approx. \u20ac 0.20 a day, they are fully dependent on what they grow, sell and buy at the market.<\/div>\n

To make matters worse, food aid from Europe is also tied up as a result of the war in Ukraine, and many donors who were running refugee aid projects in Uganda have left the country. We have been here since 2020 and we are not going to leave... Quite the opposite. We will soon bring you more fresh news from Uganda - we are going on a monitoring trip and a visit to our ADRA farm.<\/div>\n
