Project FOUR - Farming oportunities Rwanda
ADRA Slovakia in cooperation with ADRA Rwanda is implementing a project for the development of farming and gardening. We help low-income families to solve the problem of child malnutrition. We support small farms that provide them with seeds, seedlings and gardening tools.
Experienced local farmers will teach them how to use their own garden and provide courses on preparing healthy, nutritious meals.
Situation:
Rwanda, having overcome the consequences of the genocide, is becoming a stable and developing country. However, it is still struggling with the problems of malnutrition among poor families in the villages, where children are often cared for by abandoned women without sufficient income. They depend on what they can produce in their own gardens.
Partners:
Rwanda has created conditions for small farms, ADRA Slovakia knows how to do it, Slovak AID provided financial support for our project. A local women's organisation is also a partner in the project, which through its training centre circuit helps abandoned women, organises healthy nutrition courses and helps to cope with the responsibility for children.
