Give the gift of education to children in Uganda with HELPKIDS.
Children belong in school... But what if they don't have parents, or their parents don't have it in them?
Our programme „HELPKIDS“ gives you the opportunity to give the gift of education to specific children in Africa. In Uganda, we have partnered with several schools that operate in a refugee camp or in the slums on the outskirts of Kampala.
Every child has a story and it is not at all their fault what conditions they were born into... here are some of them:
List of children who need your support
Youth initiative primary school
It is in Kyjaka II refugee camp in western Uganda, home to 120,000 refugees from Congo, Burundi, Rwanda and South Sudan. It is the only school in the refugee camp that provides lunch for the children in addition to education, because you can't learn with a hungry belly...
In this school we support two programs for orphans and children from disadvantaged families:
- Tuition + board: Sponsor 20.-€/month per 1 child.
- Meals: Sponsor 12.-€/ per month per 1 child
Youth Initiative primary school was founded by young people who also came here as refugees. They managed to get an education and returned to the camp to help other children. They look after 450 children from pre-school to the first grade of primary school.
treasure junior school
It is on the outskirts of Kampala where many families live in slums. It provides education for children from pre-school to the second cycle of primary school. It also has its own boarding school for orphans or children from families who are unable to care for them...
In this school we support two programs for orphans and children from disadvantaged families:
- Tuition + board: Sponsor 35.-€/month per 1 child
- Boarding + tuition and board: Sponsor 60.-€ per month per 1 child
Treasure Junior School is a community school, with two centres in the suburbs of Kampala. With qualified teachers, it provides quality education and its graduates are prepared for secondary school studies. The boarding programme also gives a chance to children who would otherwise remain on the streets.
HOW does it work?:
- Adoptive family:
- Choose one or more children from the list that you would like to support systematically over the long term. Ideally at least one school year, at least 1 trimester = 4 months
- Fill in the registration form and send it to our address: helpkids@adra.sk
- If you only want to support meals for 1 or more children, the easiest way to enter this service is directly through our HELPSHOP.
- ADRA Project Coordinator:
- will contact you on the basis of your registration and prepare a sponsorship agreement for you.
- Ensure all administration related to the project
- Makes sure you have regular information and contact with your schoolchild
- School:
- Ensure that children receive education, food and boarding in accordance with the contract
- It will regularly report on the educational process of our schoolchildren
