Baraka Sadick

Age/Gender: By birth. 2021, male

Parent: Alice Zawadi Bahati - mother

Baraka is one of seven children, all of whom are currently attending school. Two of the children attend high school, which is financially demanding, while the other five attend elementary school. One of the elementary school students is in the final year and will soon be preparing for the national exams.
Although Baraka has a father, he struggles with alcohol addiction and is unable to provide financial support for the family. As a result, his mother bears the primary responsibility for providing for the children’s needs, including school tuition, uniforms, and daily necessities.
In addition to the heavy burden of caring for her children and the household, Barak’s mother suffers from a chronic back condition that causes regular bleeding and persistent headaches. This health issue has affected her mobility and ability to work. An organization operating in the settlement provided her with a supportive back brace, which has helped her move more comfortably and continue doing some of her work.
To support her family, Barak’s mother runs a small fish shop in a nearby shopping center. The income from this business helps cover household expenses and the children’s school costs, but it is limited and, given the family’s needs and medical expenses, often insufficient. Additional support, such as assistance with tuition and other school supplies, would significantly improve this family’s standard of living.
