Ashanti Sadick
Age/Gender: By birth. 2015, girl
Parent: Alice Zawadi Bahati – mother
Ashanti is one of seven children, all of whom are currently in school. Two of the children are in high school, which is
is financially demanding, while the other five attend elementary school. One of the elementary school students is in the final year and will soon be preparing for the national exams.
Although Ashanti has a father, he struggles with alcohol addiction and is unable to provide financial support for the family. As a result, her mother bears the main responsibility for providing for the children’s needs, including school tuition, uniforms, and daily necessities.
In addition to the heavy burden of caring for her children and managing the household, Ashantina’s mother suffers from a chronic back condition that causes regular bleeding and persistent headaches. This health problem has affected her mobility and ability to work. An organization working in the settlement provided her with a supportive back brace, which has helped her move more comfortably and continue doing some of her work.
To support her family, Ashantina’s mother runs a small fish shop in a nearby shopping center. The income from this business helps cover household expenses and the children’s school costs, but it is limited and, given the family’s needs and medical expenses, often insufficient. Additional support, such as coverage of tuition and other school supplies, would significantly improve this family’s standard of living.
Sponsorship support needed: 20.-€/month,
Sponsorship will cover: With your support through Help Kids, you will provide one child every day with a hot meal, school uniform, school supplies and basic health care - first aid for school children.
