Alice Kongwa

Age/Gender: 13 years old, girl

Parent/Guardian: Marie Rose Zihindula Fola - mother

Child's situation:

Marie Rose is a single mother and lives in a shack with her two children. When she was four years old she got cerebral palsy and was paralysed in both legs. Since she cannot walk, her father carried her everywhere. Later, however, he was killed during the war and Marie was left alone.

Marie Rose gave birth to her daughter during the war after she was raped by soldiers because she could not walk. She later gave birth to a second daughter. She had to give birth to both children by caesarean section, in very poor sanitary conditions. She fled to Uganda with her children and now lives in Kyaka II refugee camp. She has no relatives other than her two children.

Mary Rose initially lived in a shack that the church used for worship. When the shack fell down, she had no place to live, but later someone left another dwelling and they allowed her to live there.

Family income:

The only income he receives is from the WFP (World Food Programme, which provides a disability allowance of about €0.30/person/day). Marie Rose goes to the market every day with her children, who push her in a wheelchair, and asks people at the market for help.

Alice, 13, goes out into the community and offers to work for food, but most of the time they don't accept her because she is too young.

Sponsorship support is needed so that Alice can start school and receive at least a basic education and a hot lunch every day. If we help this child to get a good education, she can have a good future in life.

Sponsorship support needed: 20.-€/month,

Sponsorship will cover: school fees, school supplies, school uniform, hot lunch, basic medicines and first aid for children at school.

Alice Kongwa has already found her donor family.
THANK YOU! 🙂
