Chikuru Kyalondawa

Age/Gender: By birth. 2009, girl

Parent/Guardian: Patrick Kyalondawa - father

Chikuru lives with her parents and nine siblings in a mud hut in Kyaka II refugee camp in Uganda. The breadwinner of the family is the father, who makes a living by repairing motorcycles and generators on a small scale. However, since he does not have enough capital to set up his own small workshop, he only does small repairs for his friends and neighbours. However, this way of working is very inefficient and does not bring him enough resources to support his entire family of 11.

As a result, the family is constantly suffering from shortages and struggles to provide food, basic necessities of life and school fees for the children. They are aware of the importance of education, so they struggle to keep their children in school.

When they arrived in Uganda as refugees, they were allocated a small plot of land on the very edge of the village by a swamp, a very unsuitable and unhealthy environment (lots of mosquitoes and high risk of malaria). However, so far they have not been able to exchange this plot for a more suitable one for the family.

The family approached the YIDA school with a request to be included in the HelpKids sponsorship program so that the children could continue their education.

But thanks to the HelpKids programme, we will help Chikuru to continue going to school.

Sponsorship support needed: 20.-€/month,

Sponsorship will cover: With your support through Help Kids, you will provide one child every day with a hot meal, school uniform, school supplies and basic health care - first aid for school children.

Chikuru Kyalondawa has already found her donor family.
THANK YOU!🙂
