ADRA is helping to provide logistics for the expansion of the capacity of collection points in Bratislava hospitals. Our collaborators, whom we already call „Carpenters without Borders“, together with volunteers also used Sundays - the time when the collection centres are closed - to build additional shelters and a waiting room so that another site at the hospital in Kramary could be put into operation on Monday morning. In Ružinov Hospital, the relocation of the collection centre in front of the hospital entrance was again dealt with, which meant dismantling and rebuilding the shelter in a new location.
The second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic brought a sharp increase in the number of infections and an unprecedented onslaught on testing centres. The use of containerised cells for diagnosis and collection has proven successful. We are pleased that, thanks to your support, we can also help to create the conditions for the work of doctors and health professionals who are serving on the frontline of the fight against the pandemic.
Support for social service homes
Seniors are the most vulnerable group in the COVID-19 pandemic. That is why ADRA is focusing on helping social service homes. In recent months, we have distributed aid such as vitamin supplements, disinfectants and protective equipment, as well as germicidal emitters, new blankets, furniture, etc. to 129 homes for the elderly across Slovakia. Everything was given free of charge as a form of humanitarian aid. The transport costs were covered by ADRA, our volunteers helped in all regions of Slovakia. The ADRA van, which was provided by the company SPP distribution has already driven several thousand kilometres delivering aid. Together, the good cause has succeeded and we are moving on...
