Child's situation:

Ange Uwamahoro is a single mother who lives in an old shack with her four children.

The children are semi-orphans who live only with their mother, who is unable to pay for their school fees and other basic necessities they need to survive. Uwamahoro was separated from her husband during the war in Congo and to this day does not know where her husband ended up after the war or if he is still alive.

Household of five is solely dependent on monthly support from the WFP (World Food Programme). This is barely enough for basic food. Therefore, it is necessary for children to start going to school where they also get a hot lunch every day.
