Congratulations, Adrika!

Our volunteer coordinator in Trencin won the Heart on the Palm award.

The award in the category „Volunteer Coordinator in the Trenčín Region“ went to our colleague Adriana Činčalová (right), who coordinates the work of Ukrainian and Slovak volunteers in our Trenčín packing centre, where we prepare humanitarian aid packages for people affected by the war in Ukraine.

During the gala evening, there were also touching moments and memories of the beginning of the crisis. How does Adrika herself perceive the award?

„When I look back at how it all started, I get a strong emotion. Since the beginning of this crisis, we have been meeting people who have lived through the horrors of war and had to flee their homes, abandon their families, their loved ones... We are drawn into their stories, which are often very sad. Nevertheless, we are experiencing bright moments. The strongest one for me is working with volunteers. Whether it was their initial help at the border or preparing humanitarian aid packages here in Trenčín. Their strength and determination to help gives me energy. Seeing how everyone tries to bring their “heart on their sleeve” to the people who need it the most is one of the most powerful experiences of my life. Tonight we were reminded again of the importance of cooperation. We couldn't do it without the presence of the people who support us. It is the strongest thing we have. Thank you all for your support and cooperation! There are things that can only be achieved if we stick together.“

In the category „Volunteer project“ the project was awarded Trenčín helps Ukraine, which is led by Danka Váni (left), and with whom we have been working closely since the beginning of the refugee crisis.

Congratulations to the awardees and best wishes for the months ahead!
