Hategekimana Musekura

Age/Gender: 8 years old, boy

Parent/Guardian: Nyagasage Eliza - mother

Child's situation:

Hategekimana Musekura lives with her mother and four other siblings in the Kyaka II refugee settlement.

Eliza is a single mother, she has no home of her own and has to rent a place to live and is unable to pay for it, so she moves from house to house and is hounded by landlords for debt...

Children are fleeing their homes because they are starving and permanently ill due to poor nutrition. All the children suffer from Tungiasis (a festering rash caused by the sand flea), so their neighbours are wary of them and do not want to help them.

The family's only income is a monthly aid allocation (WFP - World Food Programme) of 12,000 UGX, (3.50€/month/person). The mother and children find casual work for food, often not having even one meal a day.

Hategekimana is now 8 years old but has never been to school and is illiterate. After visits by a team from our school, YIDA's mother promised that if a sponsor could be found for the children, she would send them to school so that they could at least learn to read and write...

Family income: Support from the WFP Food Fund of 12 000 UGX (3,50.-€)/month/person.
Occasional work for food in the neighborhood.

Sponsorship support needed: 20.-€/month,
Sponsorship will cover: school fees, school supplies, school uniform, hot lunch, basic medicines and first aid for children at school.

Hategekimana Musekura has already found a donor family.
THANK YOU! 🙂
