Our humanitarian aid for Syria is heading to the affected areas.
Humanitarian aid amounting to almost 6 tonnes was transported to Beirut yesterday by a Slovak government special vehicle. This aid included 400 parcels of blankets and sleeping bags, which we purchased through your contributions to the public collection. The blankets and sleeping bags will help the people who were made homeless by the February earthquakes. Without your generous contributions, our help would not be possible. Thank you!
Syria remains in a state of war, so for security and logistical reasons, aid will be transported by land through the Office of Humanitarian Aid European Commission and delivered in coordination with the Syrian Arab Crescent.
„Today's shipment is the result of a collaborative effort involving the largest ever number of NGO and private sector actors. The delivery of the aid itself was logistically one of the biggest challenges, which we overcame thanks to the Slovak Embassy in Beirut and with the help of our partners from the European Commission. As the humanitarian needs of the people in Syria continue to be massive, Slovakia will also send another shipment on 7 March.“ - State Secretary of the Ministry of Diplomacy, Ingrid Brock.
