Zam Zam lost her children and her entire family during the civil war in South Sudan. She managed to escape to Uganda with her seven orphaned grandchildren.
Kasoma John Paul, Abdul Karim, Sserwaniko Rogers, Ssetuba Jabo and Nanteza Janet, live with their grandmother in the Kibwa slum settlement on the outskirts of Kampala.
Zam Zam doesn't have a job and tries to support his grandchildren by collecting scrap metal and garbage. They live in a rented shack made of dirt that has only one room. Nevertheless, the grandmother does everything for her grandchildren, whom she loves very much and is eager to provide them with an education.
Location: He lives in Kibwa Nabweru, a suburb of Kampala, Uganda.
Family income: Inconsistent income from scrap and waste collection.
Sponsorship support needed: 35.-€/month to go to school.
