ADRA Slovakia currently has volunteers deployed on foreign missions in Albania, Georgia, Moldova and Lebanon. They are not currently in any of the areas affected by the COVID-19 virus, but we are monitoring the situation. ADRA International is also serving in areas where the coronavirus is widespread. Therefore, in order to protect the health of its workers, it has taken precautionary measures (more about the virus at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/index.html).
1. We plan foreign travel for employees only after prior consultation with the in-country security consultant. We assess individual cases based on the destination country, the employee's medical condition and the importance of the trip. We avoid travel to high-risk areas.
2. ADRA staff who travel to high-risk areas despite the presence of COVID-19 take out extra travel medical insurance. They must register the trip in the State Department database. They must see their district doctor immediately upon return to Slovakia and, if suspected, be tested for COVID-19 or quarantined.
3. All employees who show symptoms of illness, such as fever or respiratory illness, or who have been in contact with persons at risk of respiratory illness, must report this to the ADRA Director.
4. All employees are required to practice strict hygiene measures such as hygienic behaviour when coughing and sneezing, regular hand washing with soap and the use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers; not touching hands to the face, avoiding shaking hands, etc.
