Memorandum of Cooperation

Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with ADRA and 10 other non-profit organizations.

During the second day of the conference „Cooperation Matters - a working conference of representatives of NGOs and civil society,“ he signed Roman Mikulec - Minister of the Interior of the Slovak Republic Memorandum on cooperation in dealing with the emergency situation in connection with the arrival of a large number of people from Ukraine on the territory of the Slovak Republic caused by the escalation of the armed conflict on the territory of Ukraine.

The main motive for the creation of the Memorandum was therefore the experience of the beginning of 2022, when, after Russia militarily attacked Ukraine, shortcomings became apparent for which the state was not prepared.

The Memorandum clearly defines the individual competences of the Ministry of the Interior and the 11 NGOs in the following areas:
  • Coordination and delivery of humanitarian aid
  • Ensuring the recruitment, training and coordination of volunteers
  • Material and technical assistance from the Ministry
  • Sharing information on individual activities and plans, linked to the government's adopted contingency plan
„Despite the fact that perhaps never since the establishment of independent Slovakia have laws been amended and adopted in such a record time, it was both NGOs and municipalities that showed great flexibility in providing assistance,“ says Interior Minister Roman Mikulec. „I am really glad that such an important document has been created and that it shows the strength of partnership, respect and recognises the competences of the individual parties. In the result it is important to show that we are not standing on opposite sides of the barricades, as has been the practice over the years, but that we can come together, work together and use our skills to achieve the best possible outcome. So that we emerge stronger from every crisis,” the Interior Minister concluded.
