Mission Slovenia completed

We have packed up our humanitarian camp and are heading back to Slovakia.

Volunteers from ADRA Slovenia have finished their assistance in the village of Okonina, they are moving to the next area, where they will no longer need our big tent or the Help Team Bus. So we packed up our humanitarian camp and are heading back to Slovakia. This concludes our coverage in Slovenia.

„Your help came just in time, when we needed it the most,“ Katja Kotnik, ADRA Slovenia Director, told us, adding in the same breath: „Your contribution helped us to create a base for dozens of our volunteers who help in flooded areas every day. You have created a place for us to sleep, eat and store our belongings. It is in this cooperation and solidarity that the strength of our international ADRA network lies. Thank you!“

Our Slovak team was directly on the ground providing back-up and transporting dryers, pumps, food aid and hygiene supplies for the affected population. Hundreds of local volunteers have been working tirelessly for several weeks to get people's lives back to normal as soon as possible. People have shown extraordinary dedication and gratitude.

The warm and sunny weather has helped, but the effects of this millennial water will continue to plague the people of Slovenia for months to come.

Our colleagues from the Civil Defence of the Slovak Republic also came to say goodbye. They are here to work with a team of water managers to help return the river back to its original channel and restore access to areas that have been cut off from the surrounding area.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to all of you who have supported our aid in Slovenia. Your help means a lot to people in need. Thank you!
