Mobile vaccination

For several months we have been looking for effective ways to protect and vaccinate against covid-19 in Slovakia. Compared to EU countries, we are lagging far behind in the number of vaccinated seniors over the age of 70. Currently, those seeking vaccination have to travel to district towns, risking infection during the journey and time spent in vaccination centres.

The Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region has adopted an innovative idea - to create mobile vaccination teams and go to the elderly directly to the villages. 

The ADRA HELP BUS will also serve as a background and mobile vaccination unit.

We have joined forces and capabilities because we are convinced that „Together we can do it“.

SAD Zvolen gave us a bus, ADRA has made the conversion to a special vehicle and will provide it along with a chauffeur, Banská Bystrica self-governing region coordinates with municipalities on vaccination, Healthcare providers are provided by vaccination teams, Ministry of Health the necessary guidelines and approval of this vaccination model.

 

We presented the plan together at a press conference in Banská Bystrica.

The ADRA vaccination bus will serve as one of the mobile units for health teams deployed directly to villages and households. This will make access to vaccination easier and safer, especially for the elderly, people with reduced mobility or excluded communities. ADRA is ready to engage in field assistance as soon as the Ministry of Health approves the outreach vaccination teams under the responsibility of the municipalities.
