Ndayishimiye Antwaani
Age/Gender: By birth. 2016, male
Parent/Guardian: Falansina - single mother
Falansina is an elderly single mother and has ten children. Only four of them went to school, but when the WFP (World Food Programme) stopped regular support, three of them dropped out of school because their mother could no longer afford to pay their school fees and school supplies. Only Ndayishimiye Antwaani remained in school.
The family is still struggling to cover his minimum school fees and school supplies. YIDA school representatives visited their house after Falansina submitted her application for tuition assistance. Although only one child is still attending school, the others have also expressed their desire to receive support so that they can return to school.
Of the ten children, only four have been to school and the rest are unemployed because they have had no chance to get an education and are illiterate. This makes it difficult for them to secure the basic necessities of life.
The dwelling they live in was built for them by the Danish Humanitarian Organisation (DHO). However, the family is struggling to ensure that the children have at least one meal a day because the WFP (World Food Programme) has stopped providing funding for food aid. This has also forced the three children who were attending school to drop out and support their mother by working in the host community to get food.
Falansina and the older children do odd jobs for food. However, other basic necessities are lacking at home.
Sponsorship support needed: 20.-€/month,
Sponsorship will cover: With your support through Help Kids, you will provide one child every day with a hot meal, school uniform, school supplies and basic health care - first aid for school children.
Ndayishimiye Antwaani has already found a donor family.
