Parent/Guardian: Esperance Mahoro - mama

Esperance Mahoro is the mother of five children with whom she lives in the Kyaka II refugee settlement. She survived the trauma of rape before her marriage. Her family forced the perpetrator to marry her because she was pregnant by him. This marked the beginning of a life of suffering, as her husband had married other women but could not maintain stable relationships with any of them. He sporadically returned to Mahoro, with whom he fathered other children, but he did not care for them or the family and did not provide financial support to them.

Currently, Mahoro is trying to raise six children on her own, five of whom are her own and one of whom she adopted and is equally dependent on her care. To ensure her family's survival, she has focused mainly on providing food and basic necessities.

Although her children attend a government school, Mahoro faces significant challenges in paying minor fees and purchasing school materials due to her dire financial situation. She has sought help from community leaders but they have not been able to help her systematically. However, they facilitated her access to psychosocial support through the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (T.P.O.), which provided some relief in addressing her emotional and psychological needs.

Family situation:

Mahoro lives with his children in a hut made of straw and clay, which is too small for the family. The community leadership has obliged her husband to expand the house by the end of this year, but he has not addressed this...

The family receives a monthly ration (12,000UGX = 3 Euros per person per month) from the WFP (World Food Programme), which they use to buy food for the family, plus they have a small plot of land where they plant vegetables to supplement the nutrition of the family members.

Sponsorship support needed: 20.-€/month,

Sponsorship will cover: With your support through Help Kids, you will provide one child every day with a hot meal, school uniform, school supplies and basic health care - first aid for school children.

Onore Maniraguha has already found a donor family.
THANK YOU!🙂
