Another humanitarian aid convoy was transported to frontline hospitals despite the deteriorating security situation.
The handover was also assisted by city officials and local media, which immediately aired a report. „We very much appreciate your courage for bringing the help here. It has been very hot here the last few days. The city is still being heavily shelled by drones and missiles.“ Hospital officials said.
„What kind of courage are you talking about? We came today, we're unloading and going back home to safety. But you have stayed here and serve daily despite being in permanent danger to health and life. That's what we call real heroism!“
„We are already used to working like this. It's the fifth day of the black out because they destroyed our power stations, gas supply and crippled our water supply. People in the housing estates cook on fires outside their houses, they have to buy water in bottles, at night part of the city is plunged into darkness, generators are humming everywhere... The hospital that takes care of the whole catchment area is struggling with a lot of wounded and a shortage of almost everything the paramedics need to be able to save lives.“
We brought 16 reclining beds for the ICU and the inpatient ward, a gynaecological chair, incubators for the maternity ward, room equipment, sterile dressing material, and a lot of medical supplies to the hospital in Šostka. The truck and our small truck were unloaded, taken over and placed directly on the wards by the staff along with dedicated volunteers from our ADRA team, which also works here - for many at the very end of the world.
Our thanks go to our partners ADRA Austria and Sweden, the Swedish company OneMed - donor of medical supplies, the hospitals in Salzburg and Vienna who provided beds, incubators, and other equipment, as well as to the many other donors who supported us so that we could transport and deliver everything here.
