Thousands of refugees from the Donbas, Mariupol, and Kherson region have found temporary shelter in Khust. It was to these families that we handed over 240 family food parcels, which, thanks to the support of SlovakAid bought, packed and brought from Slovakia.
Mostly women, seniors, and mothers with children came for help. It was difficult to coordinate such a crowd of tired and justifiably nervous people. Monday's rocket blasts all over the territory of Ukraine only increased the tensions between people. However, they were extremely disciplined, considerate and grateful, despite the escalated situation.

One elderly lady, who got around with the help of crutches, took her parcel home and then came back to thank us again. After escaping from Mariupol, she was left physically and mentally at rock bottom. Luckily for her, our colleagues from ADRA Ukraine provided psychological help and support. She did not spare words of gratitude and gave each of us a handmade puppet as a souvenir. Thank you for this kind gift!
The representative of the social department of the local association, who organized the entire distribution, expressed her gratitude for the long-term help they have received from ADRA. We have sent a truckload of parcels to Chust in the past as well, many of which had words of support, personal greetings, and wishes for a speedy end to the war written on them. This is how we actually found out who received our aid packages, prepared by the participants Festival Pohoda.
Even though we gave out all the packages, we were not able to help everyone. However, we firmly believe that we will come here again next time.

Tired but positive, we returned back to Mukachevo. Instead of resting, however, we started loading the packages into the bus again. Today we have another trip and distribution.
