Seniors to seniors

Together with our partners, we delivered 20 medical reclining beds from Germany for the elderly in Chernihiv region in the north-east of Ukraine.

Solidarity knows no age or national boundaries. It is the elderly who can be bearers of hope.
Electrically adjustable beds donated by a German retirement home Evangelische Altenhilfe Krefeld, will help the most vulnerable: seniors and people with special needs who face the daily realities of war in eastern Ukraine.
Volunteers from the town of Velbert also joined in the relief effort, with 100 food parcels, winter clothing and hygiene items prepared with determination.
And why is ADRA Slovakia still here? The only task left for us is to make sure that the aid from the donors in Germany reaches the right place in Ukraine (2500km). That's easy to say, but it's not always that easy.
First we had to transport everything from Germany to our warehouse in Trencin. Then, with our army of volunteers, we packed everything on pallets, added more wheelchairs, ceramic dishes, washing machines, clothes, toiletries from our warehouse... We loaded the shipment into another truck, arranged customs clearance at the internal customs, prepared customs documents with our partners on the Ukrainian side, and sent the truck on its long journey.
Another group of volunteers is already waiting in Chernihiv to unload the shipment at the central warehouse and then transport and place it in homes for the elderly.
They deliver food parcels directly into the hands of people who have lost their roof over their heads and are dependent on the help of others.
Behind it all are willing people - volunteers who, although they don't actually know each other, have one thing in common - they have donated their time, effort and resources to alleviate the suffering of people - somewhere on the other side of Europe.
Our strength is to bring these people together to make a good thing happen. That's where we have found our mission.
