Zam Zam lost her children and her entire family during the civil war in South Sudan. She managed to escape to Uganda with her seven orphaned grandchildren.
Sserwaniko Rogers, Ssetuba Jabo, Nanteza Janet, Kasoma John Paul, and Abdul Karim live with their grandmother in the slum settlement of Kibwa on the outskirts of Kampala.
Zam Zam doesn't have a job and tries to support his grandchildren by collecting scrap metal and garbage. They live in a rented shack made of dirt that has only one room. Nevertheless, the grandmother does everything for her grandchildren, whom she loves very much and is eager to provide them with an education.
Location: He lives in Kibwa Nabweru, a suburb of Kampala, Uganda.
Family income: Inconsistent income from scrap and waste collection.
Sponsorship support needed: 35.-€/month to go to school.
