On 17 August 2019, the first edition of the summer festival for the whole family took place and ADRA was there. Music from top bands, motivating speakers and many other activities for the youth and especially the children. Thanks to an army of volunteers and enthusiasts, visitors of all ages were in attendance.
ADRA Slovakia Director Stano Bielik was invited to address the visitors as one of the three speakers of the event. „What else should I talk to people about but help and service? MyFEST is a Christian festival and helping is the very essence of Christianity. For religion to be balanced, it must combine spreading the good news of God with practical help for people. This is how Jesus Christ, the early Christians and indeed believers in every age have done it. The Bible defines it this way: Pure and undefiled godliness before God and the Father is: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction and to keep oneself from being defiled by the world. (Jas 1:27)
ADRA has always been a part of the work of Christian churches... But we cannot rely on some organisation set up by the churches to do our Christian commitment to help for us. Their mission is only to create opportunities for each of us personally to serve specific people with specific help. In doing so, we help ourselves first of all - because it makes us more sensitive to the suffering of others - and of course also those who need that help.“
ADRA also had its own stand at the event with a presentation of humanitarian aid activities and we also organized a public collection for the Itibo Hospital in Kenya, where we help. THANK YOU to all the willing contributors who supported our project in Africa with a financial donation. On the occasion of the festival, €173.92 in cash was collected and people also joined the collection, which is still ongoing via the donate.sk web service at: https://adra.darujme.sk/3069.
