Closure and use of the public collection for Lebanon

ADRA is implementing joint humanitarian assistance in Beirut, Lebanon. Local teams have been reinforced by crisis assistance specialists from abroad. ADRA International in Lebanon uses funds from grants and collections carried out by ADRA offices around the world.

On the public collection account ADRA Slovakia for Lebanon as of 17.9.2020 8.180,50 €. Thanks to these funds, we were able to purchase and ship non-perishable food items that have already been distributed by volunteers in Beirut. We have also purchased medical equipment (germicidal radiators) which we will soon ship to local hospitals, which, in addition to the many wounded, have to deal with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. The remaining funds are being donated to support a project to repair damaged houses.

A coordination meeting of the team, of which ADRA Slovakia is a part, addresses the current needs on a weekly basis. The ADRA International Crisis Team in Beirut, Lebanon, works on the implementation of humanitarian projects and prepares systematic development assistance, which includes in particular:

  • Food aid: distribution of food parcels and subsequent distribution of payment cards and vouchers for the purchase of food for affected families for the next 4 months
  • Home repairs: financial assistance for about 470 families to repair their houses
  • Medical supplies: in the next few days, the transport of containers with the shipment of medical devices and medical equipment for local hospitals will be carried out
