We provided Syrian and Lebanese refugee families with access to drinking water.
We completed the construction of a new water infrastructure in a tented settlement in the Bikaa Valley in Lebanon. This was then connected to a solar system and handed over to the local government for use. We also installed a pump on the existing water system, which is powered by a new solar panel. Our intervention has thus provided easy and affordable access to drinking water for over 230 people from 44 Syrian families.
Lebanon is currently facing one of the most complex humanitarian crises. One of the most serious problems is the lack of water, which affects not only Syrian refugees but also the local Lebanese community. Many people are forced to obtain water from unsafe sources such as ditches, ponds and reservoirs, leading to a variety of health problems, including cholera, hepatitis A and scabies.
Our assistance aims to strengthen the capacity of low-income households that have limited access to water. We will soon be distributing 950 1,000 litre plastic reservoirs to strengthen the energy self-sufficiency of vulnerable Lebanese communities and Syrian refugee families in the Bikah Valley.
