They returned with an experience that changed them

Would you like to know what humanitarian volunteering abroad is really like? What does a volunteer experience over the course of a few months, what challenges do they face, and what can such an experience offer them?

That's exactly what our online webinar will be about Humanitarian Volunteering Through the Eyes of European Youth. Our Former volunteers from Spain and Portugal will share their personal experiences from their time in Uganda and Serbia. They will share with participants what surprised them during their stay, what they learned, what volunteering gave them, and how others interested in such an experience can get involved.

Linda Kukkola from Finland She spent several months in Uganda, where she worked to support a local school. She taught English and physical education, worked with children who needed more individualized support, led training sessions for local teachers, and was also involved in digital education and fundraising.

Marina Gomez Garcia from Spain She worked in Novi Pazar, Serbia. She focused on children and young people, led creative workshops, and explored topics such as self-expression, identity, and social issues. She also introduced young people to opportunities for international volunteer work and helped them navigate the options for traveling abroad.

During the webinar, they’ll share their experiences, lessons learned, and challenges they faced during their stay. You’ll learn what a volunteer’s daily life is like, what volunteering has given them, and what advice they would offer to those considering a similar experience.

The webinar will also include practical information on how to get involved in humanitarian volunteer work and what steps are needed to secure a volunteer position abroad.
