We invite you to the continuation of the interesting and necessary discussion on TALKING ABOUT VIOLENCE IN THE NAKED VOICE, which will take place 26 April 2018 at 6 pm at the Fončorda Community Centre in Banská Bystrica, Havranské 9. This is an anonymous discussion for victims of domestic and sexual violence and for the general public and professionals. You will be able to listen to the opinions and advice of three female experts as well as the victim of violence herself, who is now living her own dignified life. Admission is free.
This continuation of the discussion with the team of experts KIT - Crisis Intervention Team ADRA Slovakia (psychologist, social worker and lawyer), we decided to organize it also in Banská Bystrica as the region which is the least covered by services to help victims of violence. The purpose of the discussion is to help the victims realise that what they are experiencing may be violence and to give them the opportunity to seek help and provide them with options for solving their problems. Professionals from the helping professions have the opportunity to share their experiences as well as learn something new that can help them in practice. The discussion is intended for anyone who is interested in this issue or has come into contact with such victims or works directly with them. We believe that the main point is understanding the victim's experience of domestic and sexual violence, because that is the only way to provide effective and quality assistance.

Since May 2017 we have been intensively working on legal aid for people in need, in which we identified the need to speak out about violence against women. We believe that this expert discussion will help victims of violence to find answers to their questions, a way out of their situation and give them hope for a better life.

Mgr. Daniela Borzová
Lawyer, 7 years investigator PZ violent crime, specialization domestic violence, interrogation of minors, doctoral studies in criminal law, publishing in the field of domestic violence, investigation tactics including children, completed professional training in the issue of domestic violence and violence against women, worked as an advisor to the National Hotline for Women, currently cooperates with NGOs working in the field of domestic violence, including the direct provision of legal services to the BŽD, graduated from the University of Economics in Bratislava, law.
Mgr. Ivana Klimentová
She studied social work at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. During her studies she worked with marginalized groups such as people with disabilities and children with different kinds of disabilities in hippotherapy. She was active in the Bansko-Bystrica scene as a field social worker in the project V.I.S-Exchange of needles and syringes within the Harm Reduction approach. During her field service, her work was profiled to work with sex-workers and sex-workers and she reached people who were trafficked, where she encountered all forms of violence. She worked as a counselling supervisor and crisis counsellor at the “ Woman in distress“ counselling centre, and later at the National Hotline for Women Experiencing Violence. Currently, she works as a social worker and project manager at the largest women's safe house in Slovakia. Academically, she works at the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, where she is working on her dissertation on social service delivery systems for women experiencing violence.
Mgr. Žofia Szapuová
She graduated in psychology, in her thesis she dealt with the topic „Psychological characteristics of perpetrators of violent crime against women in partnered relationships.“ Gender equality and violence against women has been an important issue for her since the beginning of her studies. She has been involved in various projects where she has been able to broaden and deepen her knowledge, she has also been involved in research and studies, such as Special groups of women at risk of violence - Roma women. She has attended many courses and trainings in order to be able to provide women with the most specific help they really need. She has attended courses as Violence against women for the crisis line, Legal minimum in criminal law and civil, family law and social protection of children, Fundamentals of psychotraumatology and basics of crisis intervention. She gained practical experience with women experiencing violence at the Institute for Labour and Family Research as a counsellor at the National Hotline for Women Experiencing Violence and at the MyMommy Safe Women's Home, where she completed a work placement.
