When the charity reached out to us, Zuzana, who was about 65 years old, had just lost her home. She had all her personal belongings packed into a few bags and had nowhere to go. Her situation was made all the more difficult by the fact that she had no extended family a support system she could rely on.

Behind her life story lay years during which she struggled to cope with difficult situations on her own. She went through complicated relationships and experienced violence, and gradually found herself in a situation where she had neither stable housing nor sufficient support from those around her.

Moreover, at a time when she needed help, it wasn't easy to find an available spot at a facility that could provide her with housing. She waited outside and had her belongings stowed by the entrance. Whenever someone tried to help her, she repeatedly thanked them and apologized for needing help.

An opportunity that offered more than just a job

As part of the 2N project, we worked with her to explore options that would help her gradually stabilize her situation. One of these was to find a job opportunity that would suit her abilities and current circumstances.

We were able to establish a partnership with the SOREA SNP Hotel, which offered her a job and also provided her with housing.

For someone who suddenly found themselves without a roof over their head, a job opportunity can be much more than just a source of income. In this case, it also provided a more stable foundation and a place to return to.

Her new surroundings have also opened up new opportunities for her. She lives and works in a mountainous area, so she can spend her free time in nature. It is precisely being outdoors and spending time in the mountains that help her recharge her energy and focus on what makes her feel good.

Behind every job there is always a person

This story shows that the path to job stability can be different for everyone. Sometimes it’s necessary to start by writing a resume and searching for job openings; other times, it’s first necessary to address housing, trust, work habits, or other circumstances that prevent a person from taking the next step.

The 2N Project helps people who have found themselves outside the labor market to explore ways to gradually change their situation. This support includes, for example, help with resumes, searching for job openings, preparing for job interviews, career counseling, and assistance in developing work habits and greater independence.

Cooperation with people and organizations outside the project itself also plays an important role in this regard. It is precisely the employer who, in a specific situation, can create the space that enables a person to take the next step.

In Zuzana’s case, we were able to combine support for the project with a specific job opportunity and housing. The few bags she arrived with after losing her home gradually became the foundation for a new beginning.

This isn't a story about a simple solution. It's a story about one woman, her specific life situation, and the people who helped her find another option.

Because a resume is about more than just experience and job titles. It’s about the person, their story, and the circumstances they bring to the job.
