The Dignity for Life Campaign runs for a month to support the functioning of ADRA KIT

Start the „Life with Dignity“ campaign“ at the turn of August/September consisted in the launch of a separate website and filming video-interview with three female members of the Crisis Intervention Team (KIT), who are dedicated to helping victims of domestic and sexual violence. The appeal, seeking businesses to say a resounding NO to violence, as well as accompanying expert articles from our lawyer and psychologist on spotting the signs of violence and dealing with the situation after reporting violence to the police, have seen high public response and a positive response.

Media coverage of activities The Crisis Intervention Team (KIT), which operates under the auspices of the NGO ADRA Slovakia, caused increased reporting of violence by the victims themselves via Facebook messages as well as by mail to kit@adra.sk. We were also able to intervene effectively thanks to the first KIT sponsor - Eniki Beniki, for which we are sincerely grateful. Thanks to the financial support of this e-shop could KIT in September accept four new victims Domestic and Sexual Violence as their clients or clients with whom a Service Agreement has been signed. On the basis of this contract we undertake to provide them with comprehensive professional counselling on both domestic and sexual violence issues.

This form of support and assistance consists in the gradual coping with the unbearable situation in which they have been living. KIT intervention shapes their lost self-esteem and restores their sense of self-worth. Perhaps the most difficult case is represented by the trauma of one of the clients who suffers from insomnia caused by the severe strain on her psyche in the context of an abusive relationship. The illness makes it impossible for her to lead a full life, so she is our psychologist works on coping with trauma and stress, as well as techniques that will contribute to the goal: to sleep peacefully. It is a long and difficult process.

KIT continues, long-term and comprehensive cooperation with other victims who had already sought help in the previous period (before the launch of the „Life with Dignity“ campaign, i.e. before the summer of 2018). We provide them with continuous psychological and legal assistance. Thus, in the month of September, concrete psychological assistance was provided to three female clients, while legal assistance and legal counselling was provided to eight female clients.

As part of legal aid, our KIT lawyer three civil hearings, one of which was settled (two adjourned). She also prepared seven legal submissions. In the framework of field work, our lawyer has completed the filing of a criminal complaint by the client in person - directly at the police, and as a attorney in criminal proceedings represented the injured party also on the spot during the performance of urgent and non-repeatable actions and measures. It was thanks to our lawyer that the violent person was evicted from the common residence and a criminal prosecution was initiated in the case. Until KIT's intervention, the case was refused to be dealt with in the criminal proceedings and the acceptance of a criminal complaint at all was downplayed. KIT's cooperation with this client in addressing her protection and safety through civil law institutes continues.

ADRA KIT for the month of September graduated communication with eighteen female clients in a remote form, i.e. via a telephone line. Victims of violence were provided with basic counselling and support, including crisis intervention, as well as consultations with already cooperating male and female clients. You can also support our work in the next month. Join us in saying NO to violence and helping to ensure that victims of violence have a new life with dignity.
