Aid to hospitals in Chernihiv

ADRA provided medical supplies for the hospital in Chernihiv.

Our assistance has recently focused more on areas in the north of Ukraine, where it is currently quite hot.

Lyudmila Mykolayevna Datel, head nurse of the Chernihiv Regional Hospital, leads the medical team at the 800-bed facility. The hospital serves a wide catchment area and its importance has now been magnified by the intense fighting and attacks on towns.

The conflict is not only causing material damage, but also casualties and injuries, increasing the burden on local health facilities. The hospital recently received medical supplies donated through ADRA Czech Republic. This material is an invaluable aid as the medical staff is faced with an abnormal number of difficult surgical patients. Injuries caused by mine and rocket explosions and other incidents of war require quick and difficult surgical interventions.

Lyudmila points out that surgical and trauma wards need large quantities of sterile material and disposable sterile clothing: „This is the result of injuries from mine blasts, rockets and the like. Surgical and traumatology departments have to do operations quickly and for this they need a lot of sterile material and disposable sterile clothing, which you brought to us. Thank you to the ADRA team in the Czech Republic and Slovakia“.

The donated aid from ADRA Czech Republic is an expression of solidarity and support for those who are on the front line of care for the wounded and suffering as a result of the war conflict.

We are grateful that, as part of the international ADRA network, we can work together to provide aid where it is most needed.
