Another shipment of humanitarian aid was transported by vans and vans to frontline hospitals, despite the deteriorating security situation.
At 11 we were supposed to unload in Chernihiv, but Mikhail - the aid coordinator called: „Don't even come here! There are 9 drones flying quite low over the industrial zone where we have a warehouse and there was a missile attack. In the afternoon the sirens stopped blaring, so we rushed to the unloading site. There was a huge fire in the next compound, high flames and smoke plumes rising to the sky. So we just hoped they had run out of ammunition for today... We quickly unloaded the medical supplies, generators, incubators and food parcels that would be distributed in the area and immediately rushed back to the hotel downtown.
In the evening the sirens sounded again. The unpleasant wailing sound of flying Shahids directly over the city centre terrified us. Even the birds were flying away to safety...
The locals got used to it and just watched them from the restaurant terrace. Nobody rushes to the shelter anymore, people are lethargic. But we haven't got used to it yet...
Those who have not lived through this will probably not even understand how much fear, suffering and psychological trauma is experienced by people who are exposed to the consequences of senseless war on a daily basis. We will not dwell on the causes because we have no power to change it. Our mission is to help, so we will continue to do so. Thank you to all of you who support us so that we can continue our humanitarian mission and alleviate the suffering of innocent victims.
