We inaugurated and handed over the training centre and farm infrastructure in Uganda.
The centre was inaugurated by Lady Aeimwe Kakwenda, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Office of the President of Uganda, in the presence of the leadership of the Office of the Prime Minister, UNHCR, local government officials, ADRA Uganda, UMOJA, Open World and other guests.
The FOUR project was implemented in cooperation with ADRA Uganda thanks to the financial support of Slovak AID and other donors and individuals.
In the afternoon we met with the graduates of our first training cycle who have already received their certificate in farming. This started their second year of training. And so that they wouldn't go home empty-handed, we gave them vegetable seeds, because the rainy season is just beginning and the seeds need to get into the soil as soon as possible.
We are also launching a new training series for another group of smallholder farmers, local cooking classes and various forms of education. Each trainer will pass on the experience to 10 of their neighbours and in this way we will help another 1000 families to make a living from their own gardens.
We are establishing a new crop of seedlings and vegetables on the farm. Already in March the first of the volunteers will arrive. We are very excited that the hospital is also starting up and we will be growing more vegetables and fruit to supply the hospital kitchen.
All this is only possible because of the passion and dedication of you - people who think more of others than of yourselves.
