The covid-19 pandemic has convinced us that humanitarian crises are never far away. At the beginning of 2021, we in Slovakia also found ourselves in a situation where we inevitably needed a helping hand from abroad. We are glad that today, the situation already allows us to return solidarity and support healthcare in countries that need it more than we do. We handed over a humanitarian shipment to a hospital in Lebanon.
In May, we were invited to Lebanon for an official state visit, during which the Slovak delegation brought humanitarian aid to the country, especially medical supplies to support local hospitals. Together with our partner ADRA Lebanon, we handed over €32,000 worth of material aid to the state hospital in Baalbek in the east of the country, which is also suffering from a surge of patients with covid-19. We have been active in this region of Lebanon for a long time, but we also chose the hospital because it receives little aid compared to the larger facilities in Beirut.
What did we donate to the hospital?
- 20 germicidal emitters that destroy viruses and bacteria in indoor air
- 8 000 medical drapes
- 1 400 respirators
- And above all, a gesture of solidarity at a time of escalating economic and humanitarian crisis
We hope that our humanitarian shipment will help protect the lives and health of both patients and medical staff at Baalbek Hospital.

Humanitarian aid was delivered to Lebanon by a state air special under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.
The shipment was prepared in cooperation with ADRA Lebanon thanks to the support of our partner ADRA Österreich, the Slovak respirator manufacturer Gevorkyan, the germicidal radiators Promos and our individual donors who contributed to the public collection for Lebanon. Thank you!
