Covid 19 help in DSS

Helping the most vulnerable

We focused on helping social service homes (SHS) because the elderly are the most vulnerable group during this pandemic. Prolonged isolation from family and living in strict quarantine conditions does nothing for psychological well-being and weakens immunity. Many DSS are struggling with the coronavirus. Both clients and staff have become infected. We send a HELP team of volunteers who are willing to serve seniors even in a risky environment... Surviving a whole week in protective clothing, closed in a covid bubble in a ward for clients sick with coronavirus is really a challenge for the most self-sacrificing ones.

Biggest needs

In the first wave of the pandemic, we tried to provide the essentials: vitamin supplements, disinfectants, protective equipment, new blankets... Germicidal emitters are also a big help, helping to disinfect the environment from viruses and bacteria.

The second wave is a real crisis in the DSS. There is a shortage of carers, health workers, because many of the staff have also fallen ill. ADRA is helping through volunteers in HELP teams.

Partners:

Over the past few months, we have visited more than 130 social service homes with various forms of assistance. Recently, we have been trying to help those most affected by the coronavirus.

We express our thanks, appreciation and respect to all DSS staff who have remained to serve in at-risk environments. You are true heroes!
