Our assistance to Ukraine

The war in Ukraine has changed the lives of millions of people, leaving them dependent on the help of others. We do not turn a blind eye to this tragedy, and we continue to help people affected by the war:

1. Humanitarian assistance to vulnerable households in Ukraine

Our humanitarian aid packages, containing 15 kg of non-perishable foodstuffs and toiletries, have already helped over 200 000 people in Ukraine. In total, we sent 49 trucks with more than 1,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Ukraine.powers. Help withand this is how he gets people in liberated cities, sites with destroyed infrastructure, shelters, and collective centres of ADRA Ukraine.

Our aid projects are made possible thanks to the financial support of Official development assistance of the Slovak Republic, Japan Platform, ADRA international network, and the network corporate and private donors. More about individual projects by clicking.

2. Generators for Ukrainian hospitals and refugee centres

Power outages and cold pose a threat to hospital patients and displaced people in collective centres. Thanks to the distribution of more than 80 generators, we are resettled in evacuation centres returned not only light but also heat, even during the daily rocket attacks.

See our video report from the handover of generators in Kiev.

Through support Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MoFA), we can also help hospitals to provide their intensive care unit patients with access to heat and light.

3. Medical supplies for Ukrainian hospitals

Many health facilities in Ukraine do not have access to basic medical supplies. Medical supplies are sent to us by French civil protection, and our colleagues from ADRA France a ADRA Ukraine. Read more about our help here a here.

4. Reconstruction of kindergartens and vocational schools

Rocket attacks have damaged hundreds of educational facilities, which have been forced to suspend classes and are awaiting repairs. Thanks to the support of the Taiwanese government and the Pontis Foundation, we have begun reconstruction of war-damaged vocational schools and kindergartens in Chernihiv oblast.

5. Material assistance to the refugees in Slovakia

Through our ADRA DobroCentier a Humanitarian aid site in Aupark in Bratislava, we provide material aid (food, hygiene supplies, clothes, shoes, etc.) to Ukrainian emigrants, as well as facilities, that provide them with services and accommodation. Our volunteer teams help in 8 ADRA DobroCentres in Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Piešt'any, Trenčín, Martin, Liptovský Hrádek, Gerlachov and Košice. You can support our DobroCentres with a financial donation. More info here.

You can also donate an aid bag with 10 kg of food and toiletries. The aid bag will be picked up by the departees at Humanitarian aid locations Bratislava Aupark.

6. Assistance after border crossing (activity completed, thank you for your support)

Since the beginning of the conflict, we have been assisting refugees with logistics in refugee centre in Michalovce and on at the border crossing point in Vyshne Nemecko. Our volunteers, including Ukrainian-speaking students, helped people in the rest area and the waiting room to organise transport, and provided an interesting programme of games and creative activities for the Ukrainian children. We cooperated with experts from IPwho provided the refugees with psychological first aid. More about our activities in the refugee centre here, here a here.
